The spot-price treadmill: why bulk revenue never compounds
Selling weight is not the mistake. Selling weight with no downstream claim on what it becomes is — because it forces you to re-win every dollar of revenue from scratch, every single harvest.
Every harvest starts at zero
Bulk sales do not accumulate. There is no installed base, no reorder curve and no residual: the vault empties, the cash lands once, and next cycle you are negotiating from the same position with the same aggregators.
The aggregator sets your price
When your product is presented as undifferentiated raw material, the buyer holds every card. A quality harvest and an average one clear within pennies of each other, because nothing in the transaction records whose canopy it came from.
No line of sight past the sale
Your material becomes someone else’s branded margin and you never see the sell-through. You cannot prove what your input is worth at retail, so you cannot charge for it — the value you created is invisible at the exact moment you price it.
