The Founder
SalesBuddy exists because marketing can't fix what sales hasn't built.
The Problem I Kept Running Into
I started in cannabis as a marketer. Signing brand clients, building their presence, doing the work I knew how to do.
And every engagement started with the same question: where is your product?
Which stores carry it. Which shelves it's on. Which buyers reorder it. Simple questions.
Most of them didn't know. Not because they were careless — because they had no way to know. No map, no system, no record. Their distribution lived in a rep's phone, a broker's memory, and a stack of invoices nobody had reconciled.
That's when the real problem became obvious: marketing can't happen if the product isn't selling. And marketing money comes from product being sold. I was being hired to pour fuel on engines that weren't running.
The Deal That Changed the Plan
So I stopped waiting for the engines to start and went to the sales side myself. I started brokering — moving product, getting money and momentum flowing so there would eventually be something to market.
One of those deals rearranged everything.
I sold bulk product to a retailer with the plan that they'd white-label it as their store's house brand. They backed out of the branding — but still wanted the product. When I brought it back to the supplier, their answer was simple: create a brand.
I heard that as a marketer — a client ready to build something new. They heard it differently: no budget, no plans. Put it in your own brand.
I'd had a cannabis clothing company for years. Within hours, it was a product brand.
The Moment SalesBuddy Started
New brand, one supplier, one deal — and I wanted it in every store in Michigan.
I posted about it. The leads came in faster than I could track them. Dispensaries, buyers, other brands asking how I did it. I needed somewhere to organize all of it — who I'd talked to, who was licensed, who was open, who was mine.
Nothing built for this existed. The generic CRMs didn't know what a license was. The cannabis marketplaces wanted to commoditize the exact brand I'd just fought to create.
So I started building the thing I needed. A live map of every Michigan license. A record of which accounts were mine. A system that knew the difference between an open door and a closed one.
That tool became SalesBuddy.
Why It's Built the Way It's Built
Everything in SalesBuddy comes from having sat in every seat at the table:
I was the marketer who couldn't get answers about distribution — so the map shows exactly where product stands, always.
I was the broker whose deal terms changed mid-stream — so agreements, pricing, and ownership are documented in the system, not in memory.
I was the brand born overnight without a facility — so a brand can operate in SalesBuddy from day one, before a manufacturing partner, before a first production run.
I was the rep drowning in untracked leads — so the first verified order claims the account, and the system remembers who earned what.
SalesBuddy isn't software imagined for the cannabis industry. It's the tool that got built because the industry didn't have it and I couldn't do my job without it.
The Standard
I built this in Michigan, for Michigan operators, on real Michigan license data — and I run my own brand on it every day. If something in SalesBuddy doesn't work for a real operator in the field, it doesn't ship.
